# The everyday cardholder

A1DIY sample project brief

This is illustrative starter content, not a tested construction plan. The images are illustrative. Verify dimensions and material suitability before building.

A little leather, a few good stitches, and a pocket-sized project you will use every day. Practice the basics with a simple two-pocket card sleeve.

## Materials
- Vegetable-tanned leather
- Waxed thread
- Leather adhesive
- Scrap card for a template

## Tools
- Craft knife and cutting mat
- Steel ruler
- Stitching chisels
- Two harness needles
- Edge burnisher

## Project overview
1. Trace a card onto scrap card and add room for seams and ease. Cut one back panel and two shorter pocket templates.
2. Test the paper assembly with your cards before cutting leather. Cut on a mat, away from your hands.
3. Align the leather panels. Lightly glue seam allowances and mark evenly spaced stitching holes.
4. Saddle stitch the sides and bottom, keeping the top open. Burnish the edges and test the fit.

Use appropriate protective equipment and follow the instructions for your tools and materials.
