Before you begin.

This starter brief is an introduction to the project, not a tested construction plan. Check your dimensions and materials before you make.

The idea, step by step.

  1. Trace a card onto scrap card and add room for seams and ease. Cut one back panel and two shorter pocket templates.
  2. Test the paper assembly with your cards before cutting leather. Cut on a mat, away from your hands.
  3. Align the leather panels. Lightly glue seam allowances and mark evenly spaced stitching holes.
  4. Saddle stitch the sides and bottom, keeping the top open. Burnish the edges and test the fit.
